More than 100 lawyers interupted a seminar on the controversial topic and reportedly abused Law Commission chairman, Mr Justice BP Jeewan Reddy.
Delhi Bar Association secretary, Rajiv Khosla who led the protest, said his supporters would resort to violence if the commission or the Indian Law Association attempted further deliberations on the issue.
Other lawyers tore up papers, hurled abuse and stood on the table of the guest panel, swigging mineral water.
Ironically Reddy earlier told the seminar that the proposed amendments to the Advocates' Act were designed to protect the interests of Indian lawyers.
He said that although India's membership of the General Agreement on Trade and Services made entry of foreign lawyers inevitable, the amendments will only allow foreign lawyers to advise clients on their own law but not practise Indian law or enter Indian courts
