Ashurst has hired International Power Middle East general counsel David Wadham for its Dubai office.
The firm has also poached M&A rising star Katrin Solmecke from Lovells in Frankfurt. Solmecke’s clients include Morgan Stanley, UBS and Drueker. Both will join the firm as partners in June.
Wadham has spent the past five years as general counsel for International Power’s Middle Eastern operations. A specialist in project finance, he has worked on a number of landmark deals including the Shuweihat IWPP (Independent Water and Power Production) in Abu Dhabi – the first time Islamic finance was used alongside conventional debt in an IWPP project.
International Power has promoted Graham Methold to the position of Middle East general counsel to replace Wadham.
