Bielenstein, who headed Linklaters’ litigation practice in the Stockholm office for five years, moves to Bird & Bird as the firm gears up to build its international dispute resolution team when the Swedish partner joins on 1 May.
Bielenstein, who spent a total of six years at Linklaters, will play a key role in how Bird & Bird’s international strategy will be shaped.
Bird & Bird’s Stockholm managing partner and chairman of the firm Michael Frie said Bielenstein has been head counsel in 12 cases in the Swedish Supreme Court, making him one of the most experienced litigators in that country.
“There’s no doubt that Henrik will play an important role within our existing dispute resolution group which consists of around ten lawyers in Sweden alone,” said Frie.
As part of Bird & Bird’s dispute resolution push, in the past few months the firm has taken on arbitration specialist Sophie Lamb from WilmerHale in the UK and a team of lawyers in Asia led by Consultant Darren FitzGerald, who is head of Bird & Bird’s Asian dispute resolution practice.
