New IP boutique iLaw has made its first lateral lawyer hire, raiding Irwin Mitchell for commercial litigation head Amina Somers.
Technology dispute specialist Somers, who joins as a senior consultant, brings the number of lawyers at the firm to four. She will work with litigation partner Mark Culbert.
iLaw has lured Somers with its innovative remuneration system, under which she could take home up to 50 per cent of her billings.
Co-founder Justin Ellis said the firm plans to grow further, saying: “We’ve got another senior lawyer lined up to come in June and we aim to get at least two lawyers over the year.”
The firm has already moved from Soho into new City offices to accommodate the growth.
iLaw launched with three partners last September and has since won work from clients including Vodafone and Morgan Stanley.
