A&O bolsters Paris with Weil raid

Allen & Overy (A&O) has bolstered its Paris office with the hire of public and environmental law specialist Jean-Yves Ollier from Weil Gotshal & Manges.

Ollier was of counsel at Weil and joins A&O as partner, working with Noël Chahid-Nouraï, head of A&O’s public and environmental law group in Paris.

Chahid-Nouraï said: “The experience of Jean-Yves is a great asset, especially in the energy, defence and environment sectors.”

Ollier joined Weil in 2004 from Axa, where he was a lawyer in the central audit team.

Ollier’s hire caps a month of intense market activity in Paris, which has been led by Anglo-Saxon firms. At the end of March, Taylor Wessing raided Jones Day for finance lawyer Antonia Raccat.

Over the past two weeks, Linklaters has lost Paris private equity star Michael Frieh, who left to set up his own practice, while Orrick Rambaud Martel energy finance partner Sylvie Perrin has defected to Ashurst.
