MoFo boosts DC, LA and Silicon Valley

San Francisco firm Morrison & Foerster (MoFo) is taking on three new partners in the US to ramp up its patent prosecution and corporate securities practices.

Two patent partners are joining, one in Washington DC and one in Silicon Valley, to help the firm’s burgeoning intellectual property (IP) prosecution group. Alex Chartove joins Washington from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, while Alan Hodes moves to Silicon Valley from McCutchen Doyle Brown & Enersen.

MoFo’s patent practice focuses on two major areas – life sciences and electronics, software and telecommunications. Clients include Fujitsu, Nikon Research and electronic components group TDK.

In Los Angeles, the firm is hiring Allen Sussman from Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, where he was of counsel, the US equivalent of a salaried partner, to handle public corporate securities work. He focuses on middle-market technology and digital media companies.
