Bar Council chairman Timothy Dutton QC is set to become Fountain Court Chambers new head of chambers, replacing Michael Brindle QC.
Dutton, who was called to the Bar in 1979 and took silk in 1998, will assume his new role on 1 October when Brindle’s five-year term ends after standing unopposed. Brindle will remain at the set as a tenant.
Fountain Court chambers senior clerk Mark Watson said Dutton will continue in the footsteps of Brindle and ensure that the set is one of the country’s top chambers.
“Tim has proved himself to be a strong leader during his time as the chairman of the Bar Council and previous to this leader of the South East circuit. This experience undoubtedly will put him in good stead to take chambers forward,” said Watson.
Dutton will continue as Bar chairman until the end of December when his term ends passing over the baton to 5 Raymond Buildings’ joint head of chambers, Desmond Browne QC on 1 January 2009.
