KLegal’s multidisciplinary (MDP) private equity team has been appointed as primary legal adviser to mid-market fund Inflexion, its first major new client win since the team’s formation.
Last summer KPMG launched a joint private equity team with its law firm KLegal, with partner Moray Mac-pherson and three assistants providing legal expertise.
The practice, headed by KPMG partner Oliver Tant, was set up to target the mid-market and management teams with the promise of a more seamless MDP service.
Inflexion, a relatively new fund, is expected to invest around £200m in 10-15 deals over the next two years. It has now hired KLegal for all its transactional and fund formation work.
The KLegal-KPMG team completed Inflexion’s £18m MBO of the Ster Century Cinema chain last month.
Following the deal, Inflexion partner John Hartz told The Lawyer: “Their integrated, multi-disciplinary approach made life a lot simpler – we only had to deal with one party”.
