Linda Tsang reports
Liverpool-based practice the Ian Short Partnership has put its business on-line on the Internet. Name partner Ian Short explains that the idea is to involve lawyers in the running of a business to save or earn more money, and identifies two key components for the change, including abolishing, where possible, charging clients by the hour, and providing clients access to their accounts and files within a watertight security system. Short says: "The idea of lawyers as backroom boys is old-hat. We have a vital and much wider role to play in these intensively competitive times, in making business more efficient, and hopefully more profitable."
