Former Nottingham Labour MP, Jack Dunnett is being sued by the wife of a former Tory MP following a failed property deal. Dunnett, a former solicitor, faces a claim for more than u1 million by Lady Lizzie-Anne Hastings. She says she lost the money after giving financial guarantees for a complex scheme involving Dunnett. In her writ, Lady Hastings, wife of Sir Stephen Hastings, former Tory MP for Mid Bedfordshire, says she guaranteed payment of u1.3 million in the scheme which involved redevelopment of 112 flats at Parkview Court in Fulham, London. However, she accuses Dunnett, who at the time was Sir Stephen's 'pair' in the House of Commons, of acting in breach of his duties of "utmost good faith" and blames him for u1 million losses.

Leeds widow Barbara Wyatt, is claiming damages from the Post Office over the death of her husband Anthony Wyatt in a road accident with a Post Office vehicle last year.

Game bird breeder Andrew Witham has launched High Court action against LFM Engineering which trades as Buckeye, seeking damages following purchase of hatching equipment, which he says is worthless. He claims the equipment, for which he has so far paid u26,576, was not of merchantable quality, not designed with reasonable care and skill, and was unfit for its purposes.

Crown Estate Commissioners have issued a writ against Gateshead company, Cind-erella Rockerfellas accusing it of trespassing on the foreshore and river bed adjacent to Hillgate Quay, at Gateshead. In addition to seeking damages for trespass the company also seeks a court order that it removes a boat at Hillgate Quay and a court ban preventing any future trespass.

Kent dustman Michael Mullan, 35, has launched a damages claim against the London Borough of Lewisham over arm and shoulder injuries he sustained when he tried to pull a dustbin without realising it was full of builder's rubbish and bricks.
