K&L gates scoops Devonport selloff

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis (K&L Gates) has advised a consortium of companies on the sale of the entire issued share capital of Devonport Management.

The firm advised Kellogg Brown & Root Holdings (UK), Balfour Beatty and the Weir Group on the £350m sale to Babcock International Group. Partners Howard Kleiman and Jeremy Davis led the K&L Gates team with associates Simon Down and Patrick Eaton. This is the second time the team has acted for Kellogg Brown & Root after advising on the sale of its production services business last year.

It is the first time the firm has acted for Balfour Beatty and Weir. Devenport operates the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth and is a prime support contractor to the Royal Navy. Paul Gadd at Ashurst led the team acting for Babcock. The sale is subject to approval from the Ministry of Defence and Babcock shareholders.
