As every lawyer knows, the only gong worth winning is none other than the ones handed out by The Lawyer at its glitzy awards ceremony, or the legal Oscars. So it’s no wonder Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), which scooped the coveted Law Firm of The Year Award at last year’s event, wants to shout about it from the rooftops.

Okay, Tulkinghorn may not be able to prove that the firm shouted it from the rooftops, but on a recent visit to the firm’s London office he made an interesting discovery: BLP is now serving special water in its meeting rooms from customised bottles sporting The Lawyer logo and – you’ve guessed it – ‘Law Firm of the Year’.

Further proof, if it were ever needed, that The Lawyer’s gongs are the Acadamy Awards of the legal profession.

Incidentally, in case you’re wondering, this year’s ceremony will be held on 28 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane. managed to sue himself.
