Chadbourne & Parke is ramping up its Moscow presence with the hire of former Lovells partner Christopher Owen.

Owen, a capital markets and M&A specialist, was the head of Lovells’ Moscow office until being replaced in the role by corporate partner Oxana Balayan in January. He joins Chadbourne as a partner.

Chadbourne was among the first firms to establish a presence in Moscow, after opening its office in 1990. Owen becomes the fourth partner there.

The hire continues Chadbourne’s expansionist strategy in the region. Last year the firm debuted in Kiev and Warsaw after scooping up the local offices of defunct US firm Altheimer & Gray, and last month, the firm acquired energy capability in Warsaw for the first time with the hire of a four lawyer group from White & Case.
