Hundreds of lawyers will be nursing their heads today after The Lawyer Awards last night. Congratulations to all the winners, a full list of whom can be seen here.
But the biggest cheer of the evening went to the winners of the Public Sector Team of the Year Award: the Hutton Inquiry team. It was that inquiry which had “ruined the summer” of our host for the evening, Tony Blair’s former right-hand man Alastair Campbell.
Campbell, who was mobbed by autograph hunters at the end of the evening, also had to face some joshing from the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, the godfather of human rights in the UK Lord Lester of Herne Hill QC. Something along the lines of special advisers and executive power…
Many thanks to everyone who made it such a special evening, particularly all our sponsors and to all those who contributed so generously to our two charities, Unicef and Barnardos, raising a record £63,000.
Bring on the bacon butties.
