Salans recruits Masons IT partner to boost team

SALANS Hertzfeld & Heilbronn has recruited a Masons IT partner to boost the London end of its high technology and e-commerce team.

Rachel Burnett joins the 100-partner international firm after six years as a partner at Masons, where she played a major role in the development of its IT practice. She also worked in the IT industry before joining Masons 10 years ago and is a well-known author in the sector.

Her recruitment is part of a long-term strategy at Salans to increase its IT and high-tech capability. The firm’s Warsaw office gained a new IT partner from Hogan & Hartson in March.

Managing partner Roger Abrahams says: “We lead in Paris, we are very strong in New York and Rachel is going to help us build our London capability.

“We are very pleased to have an IT lawyer of Rachel’s exceptional calibre joining us. We are confident that with her vast experience, industry knowledge and contact base, she will be a great enhancement to our existing IT teams domestically and internationally.”

Burnett will become a senior player in the London group, joining partners Jeffrey Eton and Richard Thomas who heads the UK IT/high-tech practice.

She adds: “The firm’s presence in industry hotspots such as London, Paris and New York, and its activities in key markets in central and eastern Europe will lead to many interesting opportunities for my IT practice.”

Masons senior partner John Bishop says of her resignation: “Rachel has been a partner in our information and technology group for six years and has made a significant contribution to the group’s development. We wish her well.”
