LG makes up five in real estate, wealth planning and corporate

LG has promoted five lawyers to its partnership – the largest single number to be made up in four years.

Two ;of ;the ;lawyers, Robert Adam and Philip Baker, have been promoted in real estate, with two in wealth planning (Catharine Bell and Nick Rucker) and one in corporate (Oliver Riley).

LG managing partner Hugh Maule told The Lawyer that the promotions reflect the firm’s overall strategy.

“All other service areas are very important, but the concentration – past, present and future – is very much in corporate, real estate and wealth planning,” he said.

This focus was borne out last year when one partner was made up in corporate and one in real estate.

One of this year’s new partners, Riley, is a member of LG’s 10-strong India group, which is a linchpin of the firm’s international strategy.

The group, which is led by partner Sunil Kakkak, advises Indian businesses on their international legal requirements, as well as international businesses looking to operate in India. LG made no promotions at all in 2005 or 2006 after having promoted a total of six in 2004.
