Jack Straw and 'so-called civil liberties lawyers'. The Home Secretary this week moved his attack from the people who clean BMW windscreens at traffic lights to those who drive them.
In a speech to the Police Superintendents' Association, Straw accused lawyers of "'running a campaign' against his plans for anti-social behaviour orders.
'They represent the perpetrator of the crime, and then they get into their BMWs and drive off into areas where they are immune from much of the crime,' he said.
The Prime Minister, of course, happily admits to driving a 'people carrier', but Straw's office refused to comment on the Home Secretary's own chosen vehicle.
