R&W partner quits to join US rival

Rogers & Wells partner Michael Immordino is to join the London office of rival US firm Latham & Watkins because of the firm's decision to merge with Clifford Chance.

Sources say Immordino's Italian practice, based at the firm's London office, has referral relationships that would be in conflict with Clifford Chance's Italian practice in the merged firm.

“Immordino has close links with Sergio Erede of Erede & Associates, which is a major competitor of Clifford Chance in Italy,” says the source.

It is understood that Immordino has told Latham he will bring his team of four assistants with him.

But sources tell The Lawyer this will not happen, because two unnamed members of his team are about to join Shearman & Sterling while the others are likely to remain at Rogers & Wells.
