Pearson faces challenge for CC corporate top job

Clifford Chance is gearing up for an unusual contested election as the post of London corporate head comes up for grabs.

As The Lawyer went to press, three London corporate partners had indicated a desire to stand against the incumbent David Pearson. They are Jonathan Beastall, Keith Hyman and Mark Poulton.

Pearson has been London corporate head for four years and reports to global corporate practice leader Peter Charlton.

The nominations closed last Friday (17 November). Under Clifford Chance’s election rules, the names will then go forward to partnership secretary Keith Salway.

Following discussions with the potential candidates, a certain number of names (but not necessarily all) will go forward to the vote, at which stage each will be given the opportunity to publish a manifesto.

The development bucks the recent trend at Clifford Chance, where virtually all the management elections in the past three months have gone uncontested to the incumbent.
