Australian firm Phillips Fox officially comes under the DLA Piper banner today, rebranding the firm as DLA Phillips Fox.
The firm becomes an official member of the DLA Piper Group – a collection of firms which share the DLA Piper brand and access to the global network, but remain financially independent and self-governing.
The tie up makes the first foray into the Australian and New Zealand legal market for DLA Piper, as Phillips Fox brings eight offices into the group from Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Wellington.
Phillips Fox Vietnam , with offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, elected not to join DLA Piper, and instead agreed a tie-up with Allens Arthur Robinson, the Australian best friend of Slaughter and May. (The Lawyer, 6 November)
Wellington-based DLA Phillips Fox chairman John Strahl said: “We are a trans-Tasman firm which has embraced globalisation and positioned ourselves for significant growth. We expect to increase our revenue by more than 20 per cent in the medium term as a direct result of our alliance with DLA Piper.”
