US law firm Dorsey & Whitney is transferring senior US partner Paul Klaas to London to head up the firm’s City office following the retirement of incumbent head John Byrne.
Klaas, who currently oversees the firm’s trial group and is co-chair of the international arbitration and litigation practice and a member of the firm’s management committee, will relocate from Dorsey’s head office in Minneapolis.
He will replace Byrne as head of the London office, which has grown to 40 lawyers including nine partners, following Byrne’s decision to retire from full-time legal practice.
Dorsey managing partner Pete Hendrixson said Klaas was one of the firm’s most productive and influential partners and his appointment to the London office would significantly bolster the firm’s European practice.
Klaas began his legal career with Dorsey, joining the firm in 1977 and reaching partnership in 1983. He specialises in intellectual property, commercial and technology lawsuits and arbitrations.
