Lawyers are top of the class when it comes to learning other languages, a survey reveals.
Research shows that lawyers out-perform most other professionals linguistically and are particularly strong at French.
One third of lawyers claim to be fluent in French compared to just under one in five marketing executives and one in 20 information technology specialists.
The survey, by recruitment consultancy Michael Page Group, also reveals that lawyers excel at speaking German.
But when it comes to Spanish, Italian and other languages, City executives are the best.
“More and more employers are demanding language skills,” according to Chris Nelson, director of Michael Page Legal.
