Insurance partner John Sarchio has rejoined Chadbourne & Parke from White & Case.

Insurance partner John Sarchio has rejoined Chadbourne & Parke from White & Case.

Sarchio left Chadbourne in 1998 due to “serious practice-threatening conflicts” between the contentious and non-contentious sides of the firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice. His specialism was non-contentious insurance, regulatory, M&A and financing.

As a result he left to become head of the global insurance and industry practice at White & Case.

Sarchio told The Lawyer: “Chadbourne’s more entrenched in the insurance and reinsurance industry and has a broader-based, more rounded insurance practice.”

Chadbourne managing partner Charles O’Neill explained that the firm was “expanding the non-contentious side of its practice”, enabling it to take advantage of Sarchio’s expertise.

Sarchio co-founded the practice at Chadbourne with David Raim in 1989. Raim, head of the firm’s global insurance and reinsurance group, said: “John’s 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry’s regulatory and transactional arena will bring renewed depth to our insurance practice.”

As well as advising commercial clients, Sarchio advised a number of state and foreign governments. However, he says he is “bound by ethical constraints” and will not be taking clients with him back to Chadbourne.

White & Case did not return calls for comment.
