Top offshore firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune is facing a change of leadership as current CEO Stephen Ball steps down to join a hedge fund.
The firm has appointed Jersey-based partner Jonathan Rigby as managing partner. Rigby is a structured finance partner who ran Mourant’s London office between 2003 and 2006, overseeing significant expansion in the City.
Rigby said: “I’m proud to be leading the firm through the next phase of its development.”
Ball will return to London to become vice-chair of an as yet-unnamed hedge fund.
His two-year tenure as CEO saw Mourant target growth in jurisdictions outside Jersey. It boosted its presence in Guernsey and merged with Quin & Hampson in Cayman.
Ball said: “Leading Mourant has been a great adventure, and although I’m going to miss my friends there we won’t lose touch – I’ll continue the relationship as a client.”
Mourant has also announced a new head of funds.
Guernsey-based Ben Robins replaces Cyman Davies, who is retiring. Robins set up Mourant’s Guernsey office in 2005 (The Lawyer, 19 October 2005.)
