Anglo-Scottish firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has merged with London shipping and transport boutique Shaw & Croft.
The move will provide HBJ with offices in London, providing a platform for further growth in its banking and corporate practices.
HBJ partner Peter Davies said: “Part of the rationale of the merger is to give the firm a base in London to offer a range of services such as banking and corporate. We have been looking at the prospect of opening in London for some time.”
Davies explained that the firms make a strong combination because of the successful shipping and transport teams they both operate.
The due diligence for the move is underway and the combined firm hopes to formally complete the merger at the end of this month.
Davies said: “We’ve not been looking at any other firms. Shaw & Croft is a niche practice that fits well with our firm.”
The combined firm will have 68 partners, with offices in London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow, Leicester and Edinburgh.
HBJ today announced the launch of a new public services group covering a range of areas including procurement, commercial property and construction.
