Rowe & Maw is set to become the UK member of the European alliance of employment law firms Ius Laboris (Labour Law).
The alliance, which was set up at the start of this year, now has nine member firms across Europe. While there is no sharing of fees, the member firms do joint marketing, training and presentations to clients.
Ius Laboris is based in Brussels. Its members include Claeys & Engels in Belgium and Loyens & Loeff in the Netherlands, both of which were formed from the split of Loeff Claeys Verbeke prior to its merger with Allen & Overy on 1 January.
The alliance gives advice to clients on pensions, employee benefits and straight employment law. The group has been looking for a UK member since its launch.
The general secretary of the alliance Jean-Francois Gerard says: “Adding a leading UK firm was a fundamental part of creating our pan-European alliance. Rowe & Maw was our preferred choice, and we hope to be announcing further members in the near future.”
The other members of Ius Laboris are Norrbom & Vinding in Denmark, J Barthélémy & Associates in France, Cornelius Bartenbach Haesemann & Partner in Germany, Negri-Clementi Toffoletto Montironi & Soci in Italy, Nothar Castegnaro Roth in Luxembourg and Sagardoy Abogados in Spain.
Julian Roskill, head of employment at Rowe & Maw, says: “Joining the alliance gives us the opportunity to provide a seamless service to our clients across all of Europe’s leading jurisdictions, which is something that our clients are demanding with increasing regularity. We’re encouraged by the fact that we’re already sharing clients with the other member firms in different jurisdictions.”
Rowe & Maw’s employment clients include Independent News & Media and Singapore-based financial services group Prebon Yamane.
