North East firm Watson Burton has promoted five to partner
in its Newcastle office.
The promotions were spread across the corporate, banking, employment, IP and corporate restructuring departments. No partners were made up in Leeds or London, where two partners were taken on after the merger with a Surrey-based technology boutique, as reported by TheLawyer.com (1 May).
The firm hopes the appointment of associate Andrew Cawkwell as the only partner in corporate restructuring will compensate for the recent loss of corporate restructuring guru Julian Gill, who left for Dickinson Dees, as reported by The Lawyer (27 March).
