Slaughter & May’s German best friend Hengeler Mueller has shaken up its management committee with the election of two new managing partners.
Corporate and M&A partners Andreas Austmann and Klaus-Dieter Stephan succeed Matthias Blaum and Christof Jäckle, who have each completed two two-year terms.
Austmann joined Hengeler’s partnership in 1995 and Stephan in 1994.
Hengeler is one of Germany’s top-tier corporate firms and it counts a range of German bluechips among its key cliets.
In 2007 the firm advised Siemens on Germany’s biggest deal of the year, in selling its automotive electronics subsidiary VDO to Continental for EUR11.4bn (£9bn).
In the last year the firm has been building up the strength of its Munich office and has been growing its finance strength.
