A leisure and property management team of one partner, three associates and a consultant has quit Masons for niche insolvency and property firm Sprecher Grier Halberstam.
Former Masons partner Anne Molyneux and her team, which specialises in contentious property matters, join another former Masons partner, Frances Alderson, who joined Sprecher a year ago.
“I wanted to go somewhere where we could have a niche unit driven by quality and service, rather than profit,” said Molyneux.
Molyneux, Julia Elson and Carmela Inguanta join Sprecher as partners, bringing the partnership to 17. “I wanted… to develop my practice as I wanted. Being at a smaller firm allows you to be an awful lot more competitive,” said Molyneux.
Molyneux has taken a number of clients with her, including pub company Inntrepreneur. The team is waiting for judgment on the Crehan test case for pubs and European competition law.
Masons managing partner Andrew Hibbert said: “With services such as Mexican Wave, firms are completely outsourcing or using regional firms at lower rates.
“We’ve restructured out London and Bristol teams into a national structure, which will help us compete. A different approach was taken by Anne, and she wants to concentrate on a more specific market.”
