DLA storms ahead in Asia with J Koh takeover

DLA is continuing its drive into Asia after striking a deal to take over Singapore firm J Koh & Co.
The corporate and commercial practice, which has been part of the DLA Group, an exclusive association of law firms, since 2000, will see its seven Singapore-based lawyers transfer to DLA’s local office.
In Thailand the Bangkok office of J Koh & Co, which contains five lawyers, will be subsumed into DLA and will be headed up by partner Chulapong Yukate.
Commenting on the takeover, DLA managing partner Nigel Knowles said that the move ties in with the firm’s stated vision “to be a top five European full service law firm with a significant presence in Asia”.
DLA also recently took on 19 lawyers from CMS Cameron McKenna’s Hong Kong office.
J Koh & Co’s managing partner Desmond Ong will become the firm’s new office managing partner of DLA in South East Asia.
