Construction specialist Masons is responding to client needs by recruiting a senior industry figure into the firm.
Ian Deslandes, the first ever chief executive of leading industry body the Construction Confederation, is joining as a consultant.
He will provide information on developments within the construction sector and will also work on Masons' industry focused training scheme.
Masons senior partner John Bishop says: “A recent client survey has confirmed the importance of industry knowledge. Ian's experience will be invaluable to us in further developing and updating that knowledge.”
Deslandes is one of the country's most senior construction experts. As well as heading the Construction Confederation, he was also the chairman of the Confederation of British Industry's Trade Association Council.
He was also involved in the implementation of the hugely influential government sponsored Latham Report through the Construction Industry Board.
Last month, Masons announced it was undertaking a rebranding exercise in a bid to widen its reputation beyond being a construction-only firm. It wants to increase the firm's profile in other practice areas.
