Trevor Faure quits TycoTyco’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) general counsel Trevor Faure has quit the company causing a wholesale reorganisation of the legal department.

Faure is understood to have bagged a global general counsel role at another company, but could not be reached for comment.

Tyco’s global general counsel Judy Reinsdorf said in an internal statement: “Trevor Faure, who has served the company with dedication since 2004, will be leaving
the company at the end of January to take on a new assignment and the regional general counsel role will be eliminated.”

Faure’s right hand man, Emea deputy general counsel and chief compliance counsel Enrique Aznar, is also leaving to become Nokia Siemens Networks’ global compliance counsel.

Reinsdorf has reacted to the departures with an overhaul of the Emea legal department, which will see David Symonds promoted to take on most of Faure’s responsibilities. Symonds is currently the chief lawyer for Tyco’s Flow Control businesses and will take on responsibility for International Fire operations in Emea and will take charge of all regional team activities in Emea.

Joost Wiebenga has been promoted from senior regional counsel Northern Europe to Aznar’s role.

Faure launched the SMARTER legal model, which saw Tyco overhaul its legal department, introducing many new innovations including the use of Eversheds for all outsourced legal work (more).

An Eversheds source believed that the relationship would be unharmed by Faure’s departure.
