Court Funds Office payments under court orders to litigants are suffering regular delays as a result of one-week-a-month strikes by Court Service staff. Backlogs of payments ranging from suitors' cash to monies for the mentally incapable build up during each five-day walkout, then recede until the next month's action. Julia Lomas, chief executive of the Court Funds Office, said: “So far, we can clear the backlog between the actions.” But she added that a predicted sudden increase in work would create more difficulties.
