Kylie Minogue’s last chart success ‘Confide in me’ is at the centre of High Court action. Three music companies are locked in battle over copyright of the song. Complete Music claims ‘Confide in me’ breaches its copyright in a song called ‘It’s a fine day’, written by Owain Barton and sold to the company in 1983. Now it has issued a writ against BMG Music Publishing and MCA Music claiming damages. The writ alleges infringement of its copyright in the album ‘Kylie Minogue’ which includes ‘Confide in me’. The writ also claims that notes accompanying the records, tapes and CDs wrongly describe BMG and MCA as publishers of the song.
