Bournemouth Borough Council is suing WH Saunders & Son of Southampton; LG Mouchal & Partners of West Byfleet; and Technical Timber Services of Romsey. The claim against WH Saunders and LG Mouchal is for damages for alleged breach of contracts made between 1984 and 1986 and negligence over the design, specification, and supervision of building work at Littledown Sports Centre in Bournemouth. The claim against Technical Timber is for alleged negligence over the supply and erection of laminated timber members at the sports centre.

A London woman is heading for a High Court battle with Playboy Enterprises. Playboy has launched a legal action against Sarah Daw, trading as Sarah Daw Production. The writ seeks an order banning Daw from passing off posters or photos using Playboy's bunny girl and rabbit head trademarks. It also seeks an order banning Daw from selling or supplying posters and photos with the trademarks, and from applying the trademarks to posters, photos, packaging or stationery.

Writ issued by Lovell White Durrant, London EC1 Holiday Cottages Group, formerly Country Holidays of Barnoldswick, Lancashire, is suing Character Country Cottages of Northwood, Middlesex, for injunctions to restrain alleged infringement of a registered trademark, delivery of all documents and other materials whose use could offend the injunction, an inquiry into damages or an account of profits made through infringement of registered trade mark, and an order for payment of all sums found due, limited to u49,999.

Catherine Patel from Cambridge has launched a High Court negligence action against the Cambridge-based Addenbrooke's NHS Trust, the Women's Hospital of Nottingham and University Hospital (Queen's Medical Centre) of Nottingham. She is suing for damages for personal injury she claims she suffered as a result of her exposure to glutanaldehyde when she worked at Peel Street Women's Hospital, University Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital between 1981 and September 1995. She claims the exposure was the result of their alleged negligence and breach of statutory duty.
