Andrew Price, Newcastle United's director of legal affairs and company secretary, is returning to the Leeds practice of Dibb Lupton Alsop as a partner in the corporate group. Price will continue to deal with Newcastle United's legal work.
Catherine Ghosh is leaving her post as director of mergers and acquisitions at KPMG to join Bird & Bird as a partner in the firm's tax group. The firm acts for both UK and international clients on transactional tax planning and business tax issues.
Sylvie Dariosecq is joining Herbert Smith's Paris office. Dariosecq was previously at SG Archibald, a member of Archibald Anderson, and specialised in general corporate matters and mergers and acquisitions.
Michael Gertler is joining the Hong Kong office of international firm Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison as consultant and co-head of the Asia communications group. Gertler was a partner in Denton Hall's Hong Kong office.
Martin Membery is joining Pinsent Curtis' insurance group. Membery was joint head of the professional indemnity claims unit at Hill Taylor Dickinson. He specialises in non-marine insurance and reinsurance. Derek Walsh is also joining the group as an associate.
James Smart, founder and lead partner of Binder Hamlyn's London market insurance practice, is joining the in-house insurance team of shipping and insurance accountants Moore Stephens. Smart has been a partner of Arthur Andersen since the firms' merger in 1994.
Manches & Co has appointed Matthew Martin as a partner in its corporate finance department. Martin specialises in acquisitions and disposals of companies and businesses, partnerships, private finance initiatives and insolvency. Martin is one of four new partners recently appointed by Manches.
Julian Critchlow is leaving the infrastructure and construction group at SJ Berwin & Co to join construction practice Fenwick Elliot. Critchlow specialises in contentious and non-contentious construction. and also works on PFI projects
