Lawrence Graham is losing the bulk of its small shipping practice as partner Mike Lax leaves the firm with two associates to set up a boutique.
Lax is taking associates Stuart Dench and Tom Crampton with him when he leaves Lawrence Graham in April 2007 to establish specialist shipping litigation boutique Lax & Co.
The firm is left with partner Imogen Rumbold, whose litigation practice encompasses marine law and other areas such as international arbitration. Rumbold will be working from the commercial litigation group.
Lawrence Graham senior partner Bill Richards said: “The firm’s shipping litigation work has been reducing relative to the growth of other parts of our business over recent years and is not as strategically significant for us as it once was.”
Meanwhile, the firm is boosting its pensions practice with the hire of Norton Rose senior associate Adam Bushby as a partner.
