Linklaters played the lead role by advising on two private equity deals. The firm advised on the public to private bid for Caffè Nero and the acquisition by MidOcean Partners of Europackaging. The Caffè Nero deal was led by private equity partner Carlton Evans, who advised Paladin Partners and founder Gerry Ford on sealing the £225m management buyout of the group he founded 10 years ago. Managing associates Stephen Griffin, who led on the corporate elements, and Toby Grimstone, who acted on the banking side, were on the Linklaters team. PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal, led by senior partner Leon Flavell, acted for Caffè Nero. Evans and banking partner Charles Dunn advised MidOcean on its acquisition of Europackaging, an international manufacturer, distributor and consolidator of packaging products. Linklaters’ team included managing associates David Holdsworth and Salam Bassili.
