In brief: Lowe gets Society's seal of approval

Veronica Lowe's record as head of the beleaguered Solicitors Complaints Bureau was applauded by the Law Society Council on Thursday. Lowe stood down from her post as head of the bureau at the end of October and will leave the Law Society at the end of the year. Paul Pharaoh, chair of the adjudication and appeals committee, said she had displayed considerable tenacity to ensure proposals were carried through “even when her critics had much louder voices than her allies and even when their shouting was wrong in the first place”.
