TJG in strategy revamp

Taylor Joynson Garrett will concentrate on intellectual property, telecoms and corporate work after a review of its strategy undertaken by Alan Hodgart of management consultants Hodgart Temporal.

At the same time, the firm has hired Eversheds' national marketing director Fi Inchbald as business development director with a seat on the board.

Managing partner Richard Marsh said: “We are now very clear about the direction we want the business to take. Marketing and business development are naturally high on the agenda.”

Gary Moss, board member and head of the IP department, stressed that the firm's other practices in litigation, tax and personal planning, property and banking would remain important parts of the firm. “Our corporate clients will continue to have needs in those areas,” he said.

The firm expects to announce the recruitment of an IT partner from another City firm shortly, and has recently recruited Withers corporate partner Tim Stocks and Manches & Co partner Simon Walker, both lawyers with a “high-tech bias”, according to Moss.

Inchbald, who was appointed to the position of Eversheds' national marketing director three years ago, said her role had been full of challenges but that TJG was “at a very interesting stage in its development”.

Lynn Hill, TJG's current marketing director, will be leaving the firm to join London firm Goodman Derrick in the new post of head of the marketing department.
