The firm, which is best known for insurance litigation, converted to limited-liability partnership (LLP) status in April this year. According to chief executive Matthew Clark, the conversion and a concurrent new business plan were the catalysts for the growth strategy.
“The conversion to LLP status helped us focus on what we wanted to achieve,” said Clark. “We’re seeking to strengthen our ties with the US and we’re exploring our options. A merger might be one of them, but there are definitely no US merger talks at this time.”
Hextalls has an annual turnover of £8m. The firm, which has 24 partners and more than 100 staff, already has an associated office in New York (Hextalls & Co LLP), which is headed by partner Andrew Banfill.
