Oven-ready lawyers

Can there really be any sick children left in the UK? DLA seems to have done more charity events for the WellChild charity this year than most of said sick children have had hot dinners.

Which is appropriate given that the latest event has a culinary twist. Maverick regulatory partner Mike Pullen is set for what sounds like a cook-off with celebrity one-armed chef Michael Caines. Pullen

is no slouch in the kitchen. He lists scallops and black pudding in orange and tarragon sauce and chocolate truffles with rose petal and lavender ice-cream as his speciality. Very impressive, although the proof, of course, will be in the eating.

A group of what DLA describes as “30 City professionals” will be on hand to consume Pullen’s and Caines’s feast. DLA hasn’t mentioned who the 30 “City prof-essionals” are. Tulkinghorn, however, is sure that this isn’t part of a secret mission to finish Eversheds off once and for all by poisoning the firm’s top London talent.
