SGP name change

The IBA's Section on General Practice (SGP) has voted to change its name to the Section on Legal Practice in a bid to encourage more business lawyers to join. The IBA is divided into three sections: the Section on Business Law, the SGP, and the section on Natural Energy and Natural Resources Law. SGP secretary Andrew Primrose said the name change reflected the fact that the group covered many issues of interest to commercial lawyers, such as practice management. He said: “In North America, general practice means doing everything, but nothing very well, whereas many of the members of the section are business lawyers.”
