In brief: Ilex to get extended rights of audience

The rights of audience enjoyed by members of the Institute of Legal Executives (Ilex) have been extended by the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine. Subject to parliamentary approval members of the institute will have new rights of audience to appear before: district judges in the county courts for all matters including family proceeding; magistrates' family proceedings courts; magistrates hearing “matters originating by complaint or application” but not affecting “the liberty of the subject”; tribunals; and coroners' courts.
