Olswang woos partner from rival

Olswang has poached a top property partner from the much larger City practice Berwin Leighton.

Philip Olmer specialises in a diverse range of property and investment work for blue chip clients in the UK and abroad. He joined Berwin Leighton in 1987 and was a partner with the firm from 1991.

Lawyers are commenting that it is hugely impressive that a firm the size of Olswang can attract partners from a much bigger firm with a larger fee income.

A rival commercial property firm says: “This is quite a coup for Olswang. I wish we had known that Philip Olmer was looking to move, because we would have snapped him up.”

Tim Westhead, head of property at Olswang, says: “We are delighted Philip is joining our team. He will help our property business to grow.”

Olmer is bringing senior solicitor Karen Paul with him from Berwin Leighton. They have worked alongside each other for six years. She is set to become a partner at Olswang in November of this year.
