Tulkinghorn considers himself a bit of an aficionado of telephone hold music. Most of the large international firms will go for something classy, perhaps some Rachmaninov or Bach, while others may opt for Beethoven’s Fifth, as played by a deranged monkey on a Moog synthesiser.
But Tulkinghorn has never heard anything like the music at media firm Wiggin. Obviously out to impress potential hipster clients, the firm has chosen an endless thumping trance track to occupy callers. Tulkinghorn arrived tired and dishevelled to his call.
