Lancaster takes over helm at Halliwells

ROGER Lancaster has succeeded Clive Garston as senior partner of Manchester firm Halliwell Landau, one of the leading corporate law practices in the North West.

The move follows a 12-year reign with Garston at the helm of the firm during which Halliwell Landau has grown from “a small firm in Manchester to one of the major players among commercial firms in the North West,” he says.

Garston will continue in full-time practice with the firm, after maintaining an active practice in the mergers and acquisitions and general corporate work during his tenure as senior partner.

Lancaster, currently head of the firm's planning and environmental department, is expected to remain in his position while taking over the management reins.

The firm now has 23 partners, 70 fee earners and a total staff list of 160.

Garston attributes Halliwells' success to organic growth and “some very successful lateral hirings”.

The objective of the firm will be to continue to ensure that it remains one of the top corporate firms in Manchester and the North West, says Garston.
