Leeds-based Walker Morris has bagged Pinsent Masons star projects partner Mark Sanderson, who boasts close ties to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Sanderson’s experience includes leading the team on the MoD’s £8bn Allenby and Connaught defence project in April 2006, the UK’s biggest PFI accommodation contract.

Walker Morris managing partner Peter Smart said: “This is part and parcel of the development of the commercial group, one element of which is greater projects expertise.”

Sanderson specialises in facilities management. As well as Allenby and Connaught, his experience includes work for the MoD on the Northwood Defence PFI, the Project Inspire Prime contract and the St Helen’s Hospital PFI.

Smart said he was “always cautious about the portability of clients”, but that Sanderson “has the skills and reputation, so we can do no more than be hopeful that we can win those clients”.

Sanderson joins Walker Morris’s ‘commercial super group’ of five partners and 30 associates, which seeks to combine the expertise in projects, IP and commercial. The group claims to have handled £3bn of transactions in 20 months.
