As The Lawyer Global 100 will make so clear, Asia is where it’s at. Even Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has realised and is gearing up to open in Hong Kong in January. But for old Asia hands, it’s not just about China. It looks like Korea is the new India; you can’t get in there, but it’s a potential goldmine.

And The Lawyer can reveal that Linklaters is already sniffing around. New Asia head Giles White landed in Seoul just a day or so after North Korea detonated its nuclear bomb. “It all adds to the excitement,” he told The Lawyer, but declined to say whether he could feel the tremors.

We’re not sure the two incidents are linked, but it’s nice to see Linklaters taking its geopolitical role so seriously.
