Children of God case returns

Appeal judge Lord Justice Ward is to return to the High Court bench this week for a 20 October hearing in a mammoth case he heard while he was a Family Division judge. Although the hearing will be in private, he will make public his judgment in the case, the longest ever wardship action to come before UK courts. The hearing centres on a religious sect called the Children of God, which was founded in the 1960s. It involves an application by a London woman, whose daughter and son were recruited as members of the sect, to have her two-year-old grandson made a ward of court.
